Teen Prom

Recently, over 40 Courage of Carly members and their guests enjoyed a night of dancing and fun at the fourth annual Teen Prom. This year, the event was celebrated with a New York City theme, which transported the teens to the Big Apple at Hotel @ The Lafayette.

Many teenagers with cancer are unable to attend their high school’s prom because of their diagnosis. The Teen Prom ensures that teens with cancer are able to attend and enjoy prom with other young patients and survivors who understand what they’re going through. Thanks to community and donor support, the Teen Prom is just one of many events offered to Courage of Carly members throughout the year at no cost to the attendees or their families.

The evening began with pre-prom, where local hair stylists and makeup artists, including volunteers from Sephora, pampered the teens and helped them get ready for prom. Limousines then chauffeured them to the main event, where they were treated to New York neighborhood themed tasting stations, such as Little Italy, Chinatown, and Coney Island.

After dinner, the teens hit the dance floor and the evening concluded with a Times Square balloon drop. The fun had at prom allowed the teens to be teens and forget about their diagnosis for the night.

We thank the Montgomery Family Foundation and New Era Cap Foundation for sponsoring the prom festivities.
